DIY Bath Fizzies!

DIY Bath Fizzies

1 Cup Baking Soda
1 Cup Citric Acid
2 Cups Arrowroot Powder or Cornstarch
Essential Oil (I used Calming the Child as my daughter loves these)
1/4 Cup Witch Hazel
Food Coloring (optional)

In a large bowl, sift Baking Soda, Citric Acid, and Arrowroot Powder and whisk until combined. Set aside.

In a small spray bottle (about 3-4 ounces), add 1/4 cup witch hazel and 3-4 drops of food coloring if using.

In a medium bowl, add 1 cup of your powdered ingredients and whisk in 12 drops of your essential oil. Spray powder 3-5 times and whisk. Continue this process until you can take a handful of the mixture and squeeze in your fist so that it holds it’s shape once opened. Be very careful to not to get it too wet. If you do, your bath fizzies will “melt” after un-molding.

Once the powder holds it’s shape, tightly pack into a heavy-weight silicone mold being mindful to make sure the edges are really pressed down so they don’t fall apart once dry. DO NOT use a flimsy silicone mold. See that pink one up there? It’s REALLY thin…and well…let’s just say those were a major fail.

Let set out for 2-4 hours until completely dry. You can even leave them molded overnight if wanted. Remove from molds and store in an air-tight container or zip-lock bag until ready to use.

Yields about 12 large bath fizzies.
